Congratulations on your win from My Dream Hunts. You have won a hunt in Unit 62, in the Uncomphagre National Forest of Western Colorado. The following information will help you in planning your upcoming hunt.

Please be in shape. Bicycling, power walking, stairsteps and cardio workouts will make the hunt more enjoyable. Hunts are between 7500 to 9000 feet in elivation. The terrain varies from sage brush to heavy timber. The shooting windows vary from 5 to 40 yards for archery and up to 600 yards for rifle. The weather can change at any time, so a variety of clothing is suggested. Light rain gear is also recommended.

Interacting with your hunting partners and talking about the goals will help considerably. Please designate one person to talk with BCO. Please use e-mail as much as possible.

Rifle hunters should apply for a cow tag before April 1, 2010 for Unit 62. This will give the hunters a better chance for an Elk harvest. Applications can be reached through a Colorado DOW link on BCO web site. Archery hunters, the license is an either sex tag.

ALL LICENSES CAN BE PURCHASED ON LINE FROM COLORADO DOW. IF BORN AFTER JAN 1st OF 1949, A HUNTER SAFTEY COURSE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR A LICENSE IN COLORADO. PLEASE HAVE THESE COMPLETED BEFORE ARRIVING IN GRAND JUNCTION, CO. THIS WILL CUT DOWN ON LOST TIME.

BE AWARE THAT WE HAVE A LARGE BEAR POPULATION. ARCHERY HUNTERS CAN CARRY A PISTOL FOR PROTECTION.

I REQUIRE ALL HUNTERS TO SHOW THAT WEAPONS ARE IN WORKING CONDITION AND CAN FIRE THE APPROPRIATE PROJECTILE. NO EXCEPTIONS. TARGETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SHOOTING.

WE HAVE A LARGE SELECTION OF GROCERIES AND SPORTMANS STORES IN GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE EXTRAS. BRING SPARE FUEL CANS FOR EXTRA FUEL. YOU CAN AND I SUGGEST TO BRING ATVS AND BACKPACKS.

THE CAMP IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES SOUTH OF GRAND JUNCTION, CO. ON THE UNCOMPHAGRE NATIONAL FOREST. IF YOU FLY INTO GRAND JUNCTION, RENTAL VEHICLES ARE AVAILABLE. WE WILL TAKE YOU UP THE MOUNTIAN TO THE LODGE AND GET YOU SETTLED IN. WE MAKE A RUN UP TO THE LODGE ONCE A WEEK TO BRING SUPPLIES IF YOU NEED ANY. LIMITED CELL SERVICE IS AVAILABLE.
